I was born in Argentina and first started DJing in 1982. I grew up in Argentina, and one of my first jobs was working as the film and music critic for La Capital, an Argentine newspaper. I decided that my passion for music was greater than my passion for film, and it was never going to develop further if I stayed where I was. So it was in the mid-1980s that I decided to take a massive, life-changing decision. I gave up my job and headed for the world's most notorious party island; Ibiza. Only back then, Ibiza was nothing whatsoever to do with clubbing! I hung out on the island, and got my first break - a residency at the club Amnesia, which I would keep for seven years.
It was not until 1987 that I met up with a bunch of guys who are now known as some of the best DJs in the world.
Danny Rampling,
Paul Oakenfold, Nicky Holloway, Trevor Fung and Johnny Walker all took to the White Island for a holiday and we all met one night in Amnesia. Everything followed on from that moment.
After the Ibiza season I was flown to the UK to play
Paul Oakenfold's Project club in London. It gave me a great opportunity to show the Ibiza vets and everyone else in the UK industry what I could really do behind the decks. My diary started to expand and overseas gigs followed.
So, back to Ibiza. After the Amnesia residency, I moved on to Pacha; for the next three years I started pushing different sounds to change the club scene, which was becoming stale back then. A year after my residency at Pacha, I flew out to Singapore, where I stayed for three months DJing for the awesome Zouk club; one of the finest on the planet.
Since 1996 I have been resident at Privilege, the biggest club in the world. I play for Manumission on Mondays, and also at their afterhours Carry On at Space on Tuesday morning. My time in Ibiza has brought me recognition amongst the island's promoters and DJs; every year I am lucky to be one of the few DJs to play at the opening and closing parties at Space.
As much as I am focussing on the present for my career, it's really important to look to the future. My son has been grasping the art of DJing since the Millennium, and has been accompanying me on my DJ travels around the world. We play as a double act when we spin together?we've had some amazing sets with people like Norman Cook, who when told about our plans to spend the summer DJing in Ibiza simply said "They'll rock it!".
My studio work is not up-to-date; with my schedule it's not difficult to see why! But I have managed to get into the studio with French producer Jean Luis Santoro and we've got a release coming on Spanish record label Dreamtigers - a small label that I started with friends.
So that's me. Tell me about you now!
