One of the original British house DJs, Kelvin Andrews has been playing hot records to a dancing audience since 1982.

In a career spanning more than 25 years, he has played as a guest DJ from Buenos Aires to Tokyo and rocked iconic UK clubs like Golden, The Bomb, Back To Basics, Slam, Heavenly Social, Fabric and more recently Lowlife and the Electric Chair. Along the way, he has written and produced, along with disco brother Danny Spencer, a slew of party music classics as Sure Is Pure to the more acid house and disco stylings in their current guise, Soul Mekanik.
These days Kelvin runs the cult Creative Use label and gets paid to make popstars sound cool.

Kelvin explains the roots to his unique DJing slant…

"After discovering disco and funk as a young teenager, I started doing the DJ thing by throwing parties in my hometown of Stoke playing whatever I could get my hands on… dubbed out, New York sounds like D-Train or Man Parrish right next to Gina X, Telex and Roxy Music… maybe Talking Heads into Earth Wind & Fire or Kraftwerk… my style was really borne out of the necessity to play for hours and keep people interested, I'd experiment with spoken word records and drop in American TV themes, comedy snippets and sound effects… basically I've been developing that style ever since. I've always loved that maverick, off the cuff and spontaneous DJ approach, old and new records, lots of underground, Leftfield disco and house , eastern and european pop sounds, dub, latin, afro, acoustic, electronic and even rock… if it sounds right… It's all about creating an underground party vibe."
