Name: Liam Bulloch Music Style: House, Techno MySpace: myspace.com/liambulloch Outlar-Listed Events: 52 Outlar Cross-references: Yousef, High Contrast, Danny Howells, Felix Da Housecat, Ben Klock, Phil Kieran, Geddes, Law & Order, Chibuku, Circus, Funkadelic, Gary Martin, Steve Robinson Liam Bulloch Intro: With Youth inherently on his side, Liam Bulloch is looking at a productive career within dance music. Barely out of his teens, he has already clocked up five years of experience winning competitions and rocking clubs. First cutting his teeth at Funkadelic in Liverpool, he inked a residency at the age of sixteen, old enough to rock the floor but banned from going anywhere near the bar. This followed on from an appearance a year earlier at the DMC's Young DJ Competition where he made the National semi-finals, the start of a long and productive relationship with competitions that has proved instrumental in his ever increasing exposure. The interesting movements would follow as a consequence of this first residency and the taste for competition he had developed. Funkadelic proudly focused on local talent, giving Liam the chance to rub shoulders with the best the local scene had to offer. It also led to him becoming more and more regarded by local promoters, not least of all the buccaneers behind the mash parties that frequently took over an abandoned warehouse in Liverpool's underground. Here Liam would play crushing techno sets to 300 wide eyed ravers ensconced in a basement on the city's outer fringes, boasting glorious hedonism mocking the lack of legality. Liam's next residency would see him further thrust into the limelight. Rhumba was the brainchild of several of Liverpool's promoters (the Mash party Mafioso among them), a tailor made exposition of techno that allowed for Liam to play alongside Geddes, Ben Klock, Phil Kieran and Superflu, all stellar figures of the underground. Liam was also a central figure in the night's successful hosting of the bar at Chibuku, seeing Liam rub shoulders with Djs like Felix Da Housecat, Aeroplane and High Contrast in the process. And he continued to enter the competitions, winning with increased regularity. First was the Circus comp, allowing for Liam to play his favourite clubnight alongside Liverpool legend Yousef. Then further afield he won Uber's search for a new resident, the Carlisle club taking him on tour to Back to Basics in Leeds and slotting him in alongside Danny Howells at the club at home. This led to a booking at Scotland's celebrated Wickerman festival - alongside Candi Staton, The Zutons and Sheffield electro pop legends The Human League - and has started that next stage in Liam's manifesto; national exposure. Stylistically Liam expresses a penchant for melody and groove above all else. Anything from deep house to rolling techno features in his sets, allowing for beguiling blends of music that effortlessly skips from the monstrously hedonistic to more deeper and abstract moods. Having recently converted to the Ableton Live school of DJing, he has become more and more transfixed with blurring the boundaries between producer and DJ, starting his own series of edits and ripping up tracks during each set. It has only added to the sense of excitement surrounding this young gun, marking him as a future hero of dancefloor focused electronica. Are you ready to be swept along for the ride?
