Freddy Fresh Intro:
Freddy Fresh (Frederick Schmid) has released over 100 singles, and produced 6 albums since 1981 when he began his production career. His work encompasses beats from hip-hop to techno including electro, latin, jazz and samba, and has worked as a DJ all over the world.

Born in Minneapolis, 1963, Freddy was exposed to the South Bronx hip-hop scene in early 1983 close to the beginning of Hip-Hop's growth as an art form. He met up with B-Boy records on 132nd street of the Bronx and ended up doing production work on the first Boogie Down Productions album (Scott LaRock and KRS-1's famous imprint). He also engraved the cover of that album. He still resides in Minneapolis, and occasionally still works as a pizza chef on busy nights to help out his old friend and former boss at the pizza restaurant where he got his start.

Freddy has released over 100 tunes himself including 5 albums. The most well known as Freddy Fresh at the present time would be his album of 2001 entitled "The Last True Family Man", which included the underground hit "La Lyrica" and the commercially succesful "Badda Badda Schwing" (a collaboration with Fatboy Slim.) He also records techno under the monikers "The Modulator", "Nitrate", "D.W.F.S" and "The Invisible Man" as well as many others. In the recent past he has produced popular club material with Krafty Kuts and The Freestylers, and currently owns and runs the new "Against the Grain" record label with Krafty Kuts.

Additionally, Freddy Fresh's collaboration/remix projects include tunes with Eminem, Grandmaster Flash, Sugarhill Gang, Schooly D, Boogie Down Productions, Jacknife Lee, Soul of Man, Kitachi, Papa Mantra and Clinton. Of particular note is the fact that he remixed Grandmaster Flash's "Adventures on the Wheels of Steel" and Schooly D's "Gucci Time".
