Name: Lee Fallon Music Style: House, Techno Outlar-Listed Events: 7 Outlar Cross-references: Paul Bleasdale, Yousef, Derrick Carter, Derrick May, 808 State, François K, Orbital, A Guy Called Gerald, Kraftwerk, Moodymann, Aztec, Cream, Bugged Out, Yo-Yo, Nation Lee Fallon Intro: Lee Fallon was brought up with a parentally-prescribed musical diet of Motown and Northern soul, which gave him an ear for a good rhythm since day one. Through being bit by the "brit-pop" bug in his early teenage years, Lee was laterally introduced to the sounds of early Mancunian Electro-Techno acts such as 808 State and A Guy Called Gerald through their work with The Stone Roses and New Order and was instantly amazed by the repetitive, electronic sound. Moving to Liverpool to start his University degree in 1999 gave Lee an opportunity to attend legendary super-club Cream. From the moment he first walked through the doors, Lee was hooked on the energy, the atmosphere and the sound of house-music. For the next three years, Lee would religiously attend Cream and Bugged Out! at Nation virtually every weekend, giving him full access to virtually the entire spectrum of what is described as "dance music". This allowed Lee to develop an open-minded love of a broad range of musical styles, with an obsessive preference for "deep, techy house and Techno – the sounds of Manchester, Chicago and Detroit". In his final year at University, Lee and a housemate clubbed together to buy a pair of cheap direct-drive decks, on which they would teach themselves to mix house and techno, practising till the early hours on a "ridiculously regular basis". In 2003, Lee began to assist with the promotion of Liverpool house and Techno night Aztec, giving him an opportunity to meet inspirational musicians Derrick May and Orbital's Phil Hartnoll, as well as providing a "behind-the-scenes" perception of Cream's legendary Nation venue – the building which cemented his love of clubbing and electronic music a few years previously. Lee describes his main musical influences as The Stone Roses, 808 State, Paul Bleasdale, Yousef, Derrick May, François K, Kraftwerk, Derrick Carter and Moodymann. As well as reviewing for popular clubbing website gurn.net, Lee is now monthly resident at Yo-Yo at Nation and describes his sound as "deep, jackin' house with a smattering of techno". Lee recently began attempts to produce house music and hopes to release a demo of a debut EP in early 2005. Watch this space for further developments in the career of a young rising-star.
