Jay Viper Intro:
Born in Liverpool 1975, Jay tried his hand at magic, origami and even playing an electric guitar before he realized his hands where born for one thing and one thing only, to play records. But there is more to a dj than just playing records right? This is something that many people say and nobody takes this more to heart than Jay Viper. Jay has recently been compared to the likes of Eddie Halliwell and Mark EG due to his untouchable energetic display behind the decks. (how many d.j's actually carry a hand towel in there record box?) Shouting, scratching, jumping up and down, acting out the melody of the tune etc one thing is for sure you WILL remember if you have seen Jay Viper play.

Dj Vipers career started way back in the mid 90's playing @ church halls and function rooms that had been hired out by friends so they could showcase there talents on the decks, playing Happy Hardcore and Bouncy Techno Dj Viper's first gig was quite a memorable one "I remember being so nervous that I actually felt sick". First gig nerves out of the way and Dj Viper was on the way to bigger and better things than church halls, for the next few years Viper played all over the north of England including a residency @ the now legendary Pleaasuredrome in Birkenhead playing alongside the likes of Dj Demand, and co running Masters Of Bounce in Liverpool, Viper was requested to bring his M.O.B night to Northern Ireland which of course he did.

Viper soon realized that Happy Hardcore was not for him and when the Freeform (trancecore) revolution took of this was just up his street, Viper played @ Uprising in Sheffield and Revolution in Chesterfield alongside his hero Sharkey.

It was later that year (1999) that Viper entered into a dj comp for Distortion hosted by Mc Ribbz, he came second and subsequently landed future bookings for Distortion along side undoubtedly the biggest names in the scene of that era, Producer, Scorpio, Loftgroover, Mark Eg, Sharkey, Hms to name a few, this was to be the last gig for Dj Viper as we knew him, due to promotion troubles and the politics of the game Dj Viper decided to hang up his headphones once and for all and sold his decks, mixer and all his tunes and took his Fiancee and 2 children on holiday.

Almost 3 years later when a pair of "shite" turntables where going cheap "maybe I could just do it as a hobby this time" and so it begins again. Jay has since ditched the "shite" decks and bought himself some new one and various mixers. Regarding the name change: "people would say you know Jay?
Jay who? Ya know Jay Viper! And that's why I thought fuck it I'll just call myself Jay Viper from now on"

Sending his "first" demo cd's to the likes of Generate and Ultra Violent Jay Viper landed gigs at both these venues playing the tunes he loves now, "I don't do the whole genre thing, if a tune is good enough I'll play it, I hate all this shit about not playing hard trance with hard house its bollocks, I don't play that game at all sorry. If its banging I'll play it"

2004 and Jay only had one mission to play at the mighty Garlands! "I did a nice demo cd specifically to send to Garlands, it was a mix of hard house, hard trance & hardstyle with a bit of scratching at the beginning just to show what I could do". Handed in on the Saturday Jay received a text message from the promoter on the Tuesday and got a gig to play the last hour @ Garlands "Bright Young Things"

Future ambitions?

"Well as a father of 3 with a full time job I really don't get to push myself as much as I would like and I'm not a greedy person I'd be happy with a local residency and maybe a couple of high profile gigs maybe Goodgreef and some more dates @ Garlands, I suppose my ultimate ambition would be to play @ a Tidy Weekender."

Jay has recently played once again @ Garlands on there "bright young things" night and has also very recently finished the night off @ Kubik after Goodgreef resident and Mixmag future hero Alex Kidd and played the closing set @ the official Goodgreef 5th Birthday after party.
