Name: Tim Scott Music Style: 21st Century Soul, Hip Hop, Funk, Broken Beat, House, Jazz Website: http://www.samurai.fm/2types Outlar-Listed Events: 25 Outlar Cross-references: Greg Wilson, Gilles Peterson, Phil Charnock, Chibuku, The Magnet, 3345, Paul McGuire, Andy Ash Tim Scott Intro: "After immersing himself in the burgeoning dance scene in London during the early nineties Tim Scott took his musical skills with him to Liverpool in 1994 where he continued to spin music. He enjoyed plenty of gigs during this time; however his record collection then lay dormant for a few years before picking up where he left off again in 2002. Re-inspired by the slow emergence of the nu-jazz and broken beat scene that was fusing together the genres he loved, Tim's style is to join the dots between different sounds in an exciting fashion. Heavily influenced by the sounds he heard as a regular at the then new That's How It Is in London with Messrs Peterson, Lavelle and Wilcox and dancing the night away at the Blue Note, Tim was immediately attracted to left of centre dance music and the acid jazz scene. Today his musical taste is as broad as ever, and his ability to juxtapose genres is his trump card. DJing isn't the sole focus of Tim's creativity; his productions are getting respect from those that know. Tim is also in Beats and Pieces on guitar as he leans ever further towards the role of a fully rounded musician, producer and DJ. His Soulfelt debut last year blew us away and since then he has played in Chibuku Shake Shake, The Magnet, Cargo, 3345, Cotton On, Bluu, and many other classy joints. His latest project is radio, with his first Reference Point programme getting a big response as Tim invited Greg Wilson to chew the fat as they explored the roots of modern dance music. Now he has gone global with Samurai FM and his new show "2types". After idolising the DJs in London during the acid jazz era Tim's own musical journey had its own Reference Point recently. When playing early doors at The Magnet, Tim was spinning deep jazz to the slowly building crowd. There was only one person on the dancefloor at this point. It was Gilles Peterson…" - Profile from www.soulfelt.co.uk (written by Phil Charnock)
