French DJ Alex Gopher joined the ranks of his electronic counterparts such as Daft Punk, Jacques Lu Cont, and Cassius with the release of his debut album You, My Baby & I in mid-2000. His combinations of jazz and blues fusion and technology makes for an original demeanor versus his club/dance compatriots. Alex Gopher's history started with Orange, a pop band set up in `85 with Jean-Benoît Dunckel and Nicolas Godin, who both went on to become Air, and Xavier Jamaux (now Bang-Bang). The group split in the early 90s and Alex worked for a while with Nicolas and then alone, allowing him to experiment and find his own sound.

Alex Gopher also co-founded the label Solid in `94 with Etienne De Crecy and Pierre-Michel Levallois who helped him release his first maxi and were with him throughout the production of his album. He worked as a sound engineer at the mastering studio Translab where he met many producers and artists and acquired musical knowledge and great open-mindedness. But he spent less time on his music and his album evolved slowly and discreetly over a two-year period.

Since January `95, major releases and projects have been: 5 maxis released including the famous Gordini Mix-Remixes (with mixes by Air and Etienne de Crécy), 2 titles on the Superdiscount project, featured on numerous compilations (Sourcelab 1 & 2, What's Up, Art of France, French Fried Funk…) and remixes for Etienne de Crécy, Mozesli, Bob Sinclar, Nightmares on Wax and also Téri Moïse, Jean-Louis Aubert, Zazie and Sly & Robbie.
