Platinum Pied Pipers Intro:
The Platinum Pied Pipers are a dynamic musical duo with an essential new twist on modern hip hop and soul. Producers Waajeed (a founding member of Slum Village) and sidekick Saadiq have released 2 Platinum Pied Pipers singles and performed several highly talked-about live shows to date. Working hard for 2 years they have a hungry public waiting in line for their "Triple P" album and fresh-faced approach to music.

Cover versions of Faze O's classic "Rydin' High" and Bobby Caldwell's "Open Your Eyes" on Rewind Volume 2 debuted their ability to match their Detroit-schooled beat making with high level musicianship. The original tracks to be included on the upcoming "Triple P" album launch an exciting voyage into Detroit hip-hop, soul, house, and rock. It's a mix that is that is at once polished and catchy but also intrinsically edgy. Fellow Detroit artist Jay Dee, Atlanta's MC Lacks, UK-based Spacek, and label mates SA-RA Creative Partners guest on the album. Their 1st 12" featured vocals by LA native Georgia on "Your Day Is Done" with NY based Tiombe Lockhart's soulful jazz ballad "I Got You" on the flip – this track was nominated for song of the year by the BBC Radio 1 Worldwide show. The 2nd 12" also features Tiombe Lockhart on a bumpin' soul cut with Ge-ology and Rich Medina adding remix prowess to a joint featuring Jay Dee.

The first PPP releases have sparked European tours, PPP earned a Top 5 rating from The Detroit Free Press for their performance at Detroit's electronic music festival, Movement 2004, and a mass of features in lifestyle and music mags have followed. In addition to multiple dates in Los Angeles, San Francisco and Detroit, they hold down a residency at the revered Friends and Family Club in England, and have played several dates in New York including a Puma/Giant Step Tsunami benefit alongside The Brazilian Girls. They're currently booked to play an exclusive PUMA party at WMC, and a US tour around the album release date is in the works for May.

Waajeed is no stranger to those who know their hip-hop. Teaming up with production guru Jay Dee in the early 1990s, he helped form Slum Village. He contributed tracks to their "Dirty District" compilation on Sequence/Kinetic in 2002 and recorded 7 tracks (co-producing 2) for the critically acclaimed "Trinity (Past, Present, and Future)" released on Capitol. He worked with Jay Dee co-producing on the instant classic, "Welcome 2 Detroit" and co-produced songs with soul sensation Dwelle. Waajeed's Bling 47 label provided the launching pad for "The Official Jay Dee Instrumental Series" and the first installment of his own "BPM" instrumental series. Saadiq is a master keyboard and guitar player, taught by world-renowned songwriter Barrett Strong (worked with Marvin Gaye) and brings the improvisational live feel to PPP's sound. Introduced to Waajeed through Slum Village, they joined forces musically at the turn of the millennium. Formally launching PPP on Ubiquity's Rewind Vol.2 they have also lent their production magic to top-selling German group ASD and Japanese hip hop hotshot DJ Mitsu.
