Name: Leo Belchetz Music Style: House Outlar-Listed Events: 76 (Rank #21) Outlar Cross-references: Richie Hawtin, Derrick May, Plump DJs, Frankie Knuckles, Carl Craig, DJ Yoda, Brett Johnson, David Duriez, Chibuku, Creamfields, Lake of Stars, Steve Brown, Nick The Greek, Stevie Noone, Phil Ronayne Leo Belchetz Intro: Leo Belchetz is best known for his DJ residency at the internationally renowned Liverpool club night, Chibuku Shake Shake. Now Chibuku's longest-serving Liverpool-based resident, he was first spotted playing at his own club night, Sequence. Since then, Leo's profile has soared; in 2003 he was named `Best DJ' in a public vote for the Liverpool Echo Entertainment Awards. In addition to regular gigs around Britain with Chibuku, Leo has impressed crowds at some of the country's best-loved clubs and events, including Basics (Leeds), Sankeys (Manchester) and, most recently, to a crowd of 5000 at Creamfields (Liverpool). Overseas, he has played in Malawi, Africa, at the Lake of Stars Festival; in Barcelona during Sonar 2005; and has a tour of Australia forthcoming in 2006. Leo is equally passionate about the UK's underground scene, with appearances at smaller, but no less important, nights such as Shivoo (Leicester), Mad Hatters and RudeNot2 (both Leeds), and Casamusica (Manchester). Leo Belchetz has played alongside some of the biggest DJs on the planet, including living legends Derrick May, Frankie Knuckles and Carl Craig; the leading names in house music, such as Eric Morillo and Felix Da Housecatt; as well as his own underground idols like Brett Johnson and David Duriez. He has displayed immense versatility, appearing on the same bill as the likes of DJ Yoda, Richie Hawtin and the Plump DJs. Such experiences have led to a broad taste in house sounds, and Leo is famous for seamlessly weaving together these influences. He moves with ease from spacious, chunky deep house, through funky and techy sounds, to jacking, acid-tinged material without dropping a beat. Always energetic behind the decks, tightly-mixed warm-up sets are his trademark, but Leo has proven repeatedly he can rock it peak time at some of the best events in the world.
