Name: JagDeep Music Style: Tuff House Outlar-Listed Events: 23 Outlar Cross-references: Justin Robertson, Laurent Garnier, Erick Morillo, François K, Chemical Brothers, Paul Oakenfold, The Prodigy, Chibuku, Circus, Garlands, Bugged Out, Creamfields, Kubik, Nation, The Masque JagDeep Intro: After attending the Essential Festival in the summer of 2001, which showcased the best of British Hiphop heavy weights, (Mark B & Blade, Rootz Manuva, Skitz, Rodney P and Skinny Man to name a few), and inspired by the whole vibe and hiphop beat, JagDeep proceeded to invest in some decks and vinyl. Jag states, "Hiphop is an ideal starting point for music as it is made up of breaks from other genres which include funk, soul and disco, therefore your able to gain knowledge across the whole musical spectrum". JagDeep's first taste of dance music came in the form of the early Chemical Brothers and The Prodigy during 6th Form years. But true appreciation came while studying in Liverpool and going out clubbing with his crew. Second year of university would see him attending Creamfields for the first time, seeing DJs such as Paul Oakenfold and the Chemical Brothers. That summer would start the clubbing session that is still going on today! Originally going to Bugged Out at The Nation, and Garlands for the trance and hard house sessions, JagDeep got to see DJs such as Jacque le Cont, Erol Alkin, Justin Robertson, Anne Savage and many others. Jag was also heavily inspired by the Chibuku and Circus nights at The Masque which provided the perfect opportunity to see DJs including Erick Morillo, François K and Laurent Garnier to name a few. Seeing these great DJs rocking a party with the most amazing tunes would fuel his ever-growing vinyl addiction. Trying to track down those elusive tunes that would get the energy levels in the venue to fever pitch, would be a rewarding mission. DJing, ultimately, is an expression of self. Experimenting with different musical styles, including drum & bass, techno, French house, funky house, trance and hard house. JagDeep has been able to develop his own musical style, never wanting to follow a trend but to be a trendsetter. Having secured a residency for Kubik championing the Tuff House sound, JagDeep has been able to develop this style of music further. Tuff House is music with attitude and energy. Chunky bass lines, electro vibes, tribal rhythms, progressive beats, high energy disco and uplifting vocals; bridging a gap between house music, techno and trance. The main aim is to get everyone onto the dance floor. There is bound to something in his sets that will send everyone nuts, dancing on top of tables and waving their hands in the air! This is one youngster getting rave reviews from the nights he's played. Make sure you get to hear him and see what all the hype is about!
