Project 1 Intro:
Project 1 consists of Sam Tawil and Chris Cox, the two founding members of Transition (www.transitionrecords.co.uk). Originally from West Yorkshire, Sam and Chris met each other through music; playing in a band together for a few years before university brought things to a halt. Time took its course and although the pair stayed close friends they didn't have any musical involvement with each other for some time. This changed when they eventually found themselves working together again as a result of their mutual love for Detroit Techno.

Like countless others they felt rejuvenated and inspired by the music of Juan Atkins, Underground Resistance, Jeff Mills, Derrick May and Robert Hood (to name a few). The realisation of what this music can do was initially driven home further by their experiences at Voodoo and Bugged Out! and, in more recent times, the most excellent T-Funkshun and Disted Twisco.

Eventually they took the decision to try their hand at promoting their own night; initially at The Magnet, with the short lived Music is Music, followed by Highjacked which ran at The Lemon Lounge and Hannahs Bar. However, wanting to develop other ideas and projects, the pair struck upon the idea of starting Transition, which would become the home for all their activity.

Ideas and concepts for Transition were, and still are, evolving constantly. Primarily setting up the company as a music retailer, the hope is to spread the word and provide people with the quality music they deserve in Liverpool. The project is both exciting and ambitious - people can expect big things in the coming months.

Whilst they will always give people a good party one of the main premises of Project 1's approach is to expose people to as much new, groundbreaking, underground music as possible. Call it techno, house, hi-tech funk, electro or whatever you like -just expect the best electronic music available.
