Lee Ager Intro:
Lee has always had a close affection with music since he can remember and over the years has developed many talents. He can play the guitar and the piano, but his affiliation with DJ'ing started at the tender age of 19. Inspired by Paul Oakenfolds legendary Courtyard sets at Cream. "His sets completely blew me away and from the first time I witnessed him play in the Courtyard I knew I wanted to be a DJ" he says.

Lee's main style of music is progressive house, however he likes to touch on other genres such as deep house and electro. "I would best describe my style as euphoric progressive house, as I love to build my set with lots of melodies and pads. But when the time is right, dropping a down right dirty belter is always a sure thing to get the crowd going" he says passionately.

Lee landed his first residency after only 6 months of first spinning records. His first demo mix earned him the title of bi-monthly resident at Cream's warm-up bar Mello-Mello, where he played a mixture of progressive house and trance. This was giant leap for Lee as he had only started by mixing records in his bedroom, and was then thrusted into the limelight, playing to regular crowds of 50 – 100 people. Essential experience was gained from this residency, which lasted over a year.

Following this fantastic induction to DJ'ing, Lee had the confidence to start up his own night at The Lemon Lounge with his good friends. The night was to be called `Sublime'. Along with long term buddy's John and Marc, the boys threw every ounce of effort into promoting the night, providing an inventive mixture of progressive house, breaks and trance. The night settled in for the long term at The Lemon Lounge and lasted 3 years, moving from Thursday night initially to bi-monthly on Friday nights. Rather than booking headline DJ's, the night was all about promoting the resident DJs and the music they played. The befitting slogan "Open minded music for open minded people" perfectly summed up the event. Continuing his DJ'ing career with performances in many top venues such as The Magnet, Modo Bar and Bar Hannah, for both his own nights and other promoters, Lee decided that the time was right to focus on music production. Lee's passion for making music is clearly evident having played the guitar and piano from an early age and has demonstrated serious dedication. "I used to sit there for hours going through Oasis songbooks, learning about how notes and chords fitted together to make specific music. It has always fascinated me how melodies work. I use this theory as part of my DJ'ing to get a certain reaction from the crowd."

Having been involved in music production for 4 years now Lee has provided remixes to classic songs such as Fleetwood Mac's `Little Lies' and `Big Love', New Order's `True Faith' and `World in Motion' together with Depeche Mode's `It's No Good'. "It's such a great feeling once you've produced a track, to hear that DJ's are playing them on the radio and raving over them! It is definitely on a par with playing out live." he says proudly. Lee's remixes and productions have been played on many of the largest radio stations in the UK including Juice 107.6 FM, 102.4 Wish FM, 96.7 Radio City FM and 106.9 GTFM to name but a few.

Initially plying his trade with success on Cubase SX, he introduced himself to a fantastic alternative in sequencing software and has since never looked back. He now lives and breathes Ableton Live and is one its biggest champions. "Discovering Ableton Live has to be one of the turning points in my music career. This software is amazing and yet so fun! All you want to do is make music all the time! It encompasses both music production and DJ'ing, providing ideas that you would never have thought of with other software packages. It's so easy to use as well. Ace!"

After a number of remix successes and building a fan base on the digital download scene, Lee decided that creating a record label to showcase both his own productions and those of talented but unsigned artists would be the natural progression. Soulfire Downloads was then born!

Lee mainly focuses on original music, not remixes as he wants to develop his own sound and give the opportunity to others, who also make great dance music, the chance to promote their music on the digital downloading scene. Since setting up Soulfire Downloads in July 2006, Lee has offered contracts to 5 artists that have applied to join Soulfire Downloads. His current roster includes Conan Hogan & Neil Kelly (CHNK), DJ Carlito (Malta), Little Mr Breaks, Adam Brown, Paul Harrison and of course himself, Soulfire.

Soulfire Downloads has only been selling downloads since September 2006 but has already proved a major success, selling hundreds of downloads worldwide and providing a number 2 spot on Trax 2 Burn with his excellent debut release `Bodyrock'.

Recently Lee was offered to provide the headline mix for Quantize Sessions on 106.9 GTFM and also the chance to join newly established and highly regarded Leeds based DJ Agency `Digital Dog House'. "Being with the right DJ Agency provides an artist with a platform to work from. The agency will do all the negotiating on your behalf leaving you the time to pour your effort into searching for quality music and music production. It also provides an abundance of professionalism to your image. No one will take you seriously otherwise."

Lee is looking to really push ideas forward with regards to his record label and has already agreed contracts to sell music from his record label online with 3 Beat Digital, DJ Download, Trax 2 Burn and JUNO Download. "By selling my music through the world's leading digital downloading websites, I can provide a great platform to grow and establish Soulfire Downloads as a leading record label worldwide. "I feel honoured to be a part of Digital Dog Houses artist roster and I am really looking forward to watching the business become a major success on the dance music scene. I have my fingers in a lot of pies at the moment. It's very hard work, but an extremely exciting time."
