Name: WhiteNoiseBoy Music Style: Hip-Hop, Turntablism, Electro MySpace: myspace.com/whitenoiseboymusic Outlar-Listed Events: 82 Outlar Cross-references: Scott McGill, Mark Forshaw, Matt Jones, Kelvin Brown, Funkadelic, In Stereo, GimpFist, Cheap Thrills, Lost Property, The Lemon Lounge, Django's Riff, The Masque, Buddha WhiteNoiseBoy Intro: Resident @ Django's Riff, WhiteNoiseBoy is a product of the Manchester Jedi school of turntablism. Originally from Liverpool WNB took to his fist set of decks at the tender age of 14. Inheriting a box full of (cringe) scouse house anthems, along with the devils belt drives, it was in this most technical of genres that he forged his early style. Eventually landing a (somewhat illegal) residency at one of Matthew Street's bars by 15, the milkybars were always on him come Monday morning in the school playground. After saving up enough cash from his paper round WNB was able to wave goodbye to his scouse house roots and acquired a collection of tech/tribal house and a set of direct drives. He reminisces "I was so happy to steer away from the donk hits and explore the more percussive side of house music, the rhythmic elements of music is what always grabs me, I'm a drummer... beats are my bag". By 1997 WNB had started his first club night, Fullproof @ The Masque. With a fortnightly slot he got to play to the more appreciative crowd found at The Masque (now Barfly). Shortly after he set up Smokin' Fish another fortnightly bash @ The Lemon Lounge. With a move to Manchester on the cards both nights came to an end around 1999. After moving to Manchester to study Sound Technology @ Salford University, a change of musical style came along with the change of location. Partying at nights such as Eyes Down, Electric Chair, Friends and Family and Keep It Unreal, and with record stores like Fat City and Picadilly on his doorstep it wasn't long before his bag of tunes became full of soulful hip hop and electro sounds. "I remember seeing Jon K and Kelvin Brown at Eyes Down and thinking F**k me I neeeed to be playing this stuff". After moving back to Liverpool WNB started Smokin' Fish back up at a new location the legendary Caledonia. Before long he was playing alongside some of Liverpool's best DJ's T-Funkshuns Mark Forshaw and Scott McGill, Scratch DJ's Krank Kutz and Dogs Pocket to name a few. Invitations to play nights like In Stereo and Funkadelic were grabbed with both hands. Now a regular face on the circuit you can catch WhiteNoiseBoy at Django's Riff, Lost Property, GimpFist, In Stereo, Funkadelic, Cheap Thrills and all other good bookstores.
