Name: Magik Kingdom (aka David Evans) Music Style: Breaks, Techno Outlar-Listed Events: 27 Outlar Cross-references: Dj Rolando, Ignition Technician, Janette Slack, Jo Stokes, The Autobots, Johnny1Move, Brendan Long, POD, Entity, Oliver Ho, Badboy, Elite Force, Janatah DJs, Steve Thorpe, Rennie Pilgrem, Aztec, Cookie Dough, Bugged Out, Butane, Monkey Business, Voodoo, Nation, James Porter, Mr McCarthy Magik Kingdom Intro: Magik Kingdom earned his DJing apprenticeship at the infamous Caledonia in Liverpool, when the washer machines made it "the coolest pub in Britain" according to the Daily Mirror. Not to mention the homegrown quality that was guesting on the decks on a daily basis. Under the guidance of his DJing friends Badboy and Johnny1Move Dave made headway on the DJing circuit due to his versatility behind the decks. Dave is a keen and exceptional musician and is also a product of the Manchester MIDI School where he learned the art of production. Writing tracks with Terser ( Cookie Dough), Mr McCarthy (Rythymcentric) and Brendan Long ( Voodoo, Bugged Out) amongst many of his own productions have proven dancefloor credentials. Magik Kingdom's blend of bass driven filth, percussive acid-tinged breaks has hit the spot no less so than at his favorite venue The Annexe at Nation where he'd previously only dreamt of playing. The set was so well received he will be returning in the near future. Also as a producer continuing working with Liverpool's underground DJ's and getting plays across the musical spectrum on Radio and Club nights. He's composed music for film, theatre and until recently was guitarist in the Charlatans prodigies Northern Uproar. Magik Kingdom will also be doing a Boiler Room mix on much coveted Nu Skool Breaks Radio later in the year. Along with holding down a full time job Dave still makes time to organise Butane, a purely breakbeat affair sharing residency with the well respected Janatah DJs and his apprentice Jo Stokes who he gave her first gig to at Butane #1. In its short period its made an impact on the breaks community across the UK and has had guests such as the legendary Steve Thorpe (Tangled), Elite Force, POD, Janette Slack, Entity, Badboy and looks set to continue with quality guest slots from friends in and around the scene! He's also a member of breaks stalwarts The Autobots vs Deep Impact Live outfit and features on there forthcoming album on Broke Recordings. The first single to be released will be "This World" and a future European tour is being planned. DJ appearances at such clubs as Aztec, Strategy, Ping Pong, Monkey Business, Lowdown, Fuse and Elysium. Playing alongside such class acts as Mark Turner (The Orbit), Phil Keiran, Dj Rolando, Rennie Pilgrem, Brendan Long, The Autobots, Deep Impact, Ignition Technician, Player One, Elite Force and Oliver Ho.
